4 Anti-Aging Herb Breakthroughs for Sensitive Skin

4-Anti-Aging-Herb-Breakthroughs-for-Sensitive-Skin_MAINSensitive skin can be challenging to treat without provoking irritating side effects, like redness, rashes, breakouts, and other more severe allergic reactions. Sensitive skin is just as susceptible, if not more, to skin issues that require treatment. Organic, natural anti-aging skin care methods are widely popular among individuals with sensitive skin, as they cut the reaction risk down significantly. There are some anti-aging herbs that can be grown right in your own backyard that are especially useful for treating sensitive skin issues.

These anti-aging herbs—either boiled or as oil—can provide excellent benefits to sensitive skin, while respecting the skin’s natural temperament. They all share a few significant qualities: they calm, heal, and renew. Still, when you introduce a new product or ingredient to sensitive skin, it’s best to do a patch test on the inner wrist to ensure that you don’t have any reactions. Wait 48 hours after the test patch before using these herbs all over your body to treat your sensitive skin.

Calendula
This anti-aging herb is used primarily for its flowers as an antiseptic—it works wonders to help calm sensitive skin when afflicted with minor cuts, bruising, or burns. Calendula tea can be used over a cut to wipe away dirt and germs and also works for natural anti-aging skin care purposes, as it makes for an effective, but gentle, facial toner for sensitive skin. Calendula is helpful to have in your medicine cabinet for its anti-inflammatory quality and cleaning ability.

Chickweed
This anti-aging herb is used topically. It’s amazing if you have sensitive skin and are looking to soothe and calm dryness and itchiness. Eczema sufferers can find relief by using a few drops of chickweed oil in their baths once or twice a week to help fight the urge to scratch. People with sensitive skin tend to be especially vulnerable to environmental elements and can end up with rashes or chapped skin; chickweed topical creams are a great natural anti-aging skin care treatment option.

Comfrey
Comfrey extract has been a popular natural anti-aging skin care treatment for sensitive skin for decades. It contains a molecule called allantoin, which has been linked to cell growth and repair. Its calming, anti-inflammatory benefits help to treat various conditions, like aching joints, sprains, and even acne. Comfrey contains vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A and B12, which are important in creating the appearance of younger looking skin, especially for sensitive skin. This herb should only be used externally for natural anti-aging skin care and should never be ingested.

Chamomile
It’s known as a reliable friend to sensitive skin and provides more than just calming, soothing effects. Chamomile tea can be used as a face wash and helps to treat common skin conditions like rosacea and acne. Azulene oil can be found in chamomile oil and is terrific for soothing sensitive skin after shaving or too much sun exposure. Chamomile also contains a compound called alpha-bisabolol, which is believed to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Chamomile baths are well-known for their healing effects on sensitive skin.
