An Anti-Aging Smoothie

Anti Aging Smoothie

Anti-Aging Smoothie RecipeUse this anti-aging recipe for a smoothie as a part of your daily routine. The combination of these six anti-aging foods loads the drink with the nutrients your body needs to feel and look younger.

1. Kale – The concentration of major nutrients in kale gives your skin’s health and appearance a huge boost. Kale is now being called “the queen of greens” because it is a nutritional powerhouse—it’s high in fiber, iron, vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, and powerful antioxidants. Kale is also a great anti-inflammatory, which makes it beneficial for cardiovascular support.

2. Celery – Most of us have some degree of stress in our lives, and that alone ages us faster. Celery, however, contains a cocktail of ingredients that help to lower blood pressure. It’s also been shown to have effective diuretic properties, so it can help to flush damaging toxins from the body. Like a lot of other anti-aging foods, one stick of celery is packed with calcium and iron, plus vitamins A, B1, and C. Celery is also known to contain psoralen, which is a chemical that destroys free radicals.

3. Lemon – Lemon falls into the category of anti-aging foods because it gives your body a boost of vitamin C, which is responsible for helping to build your body’s collagen proteins—collagen is necessary to keep the skin firm and wrinkle-free. The vitamin C in lemons is a powerful antioxidant that can also help to speed up cell turnover, which can improve your skin’s ability to slough off dead skin cells.

4. Apple – The peel of an apple is packed with pectin, which is also important for maintaining and promoting collagen growth in the skin. Apples are great anti-aging foods for the skin because they contain what is probably one of the most powerful antioxidant components that can be found in fruit. They are high in malic acid, which is a type of alpha hydroxy acid that has been shown to help reduce discoloration of the skin and smoothen the surface. Malic acid can often be found in anti-aging skin care products, especially exfoliants.

5. Parsley – This green herb falls into the category of anti-aging foods because it contains vitamins A, C, K, and folate, along with vital minerals like iron, calcium, and potassium. Parsley is also useful for helping to reduce water retention and bloating—many celebrities use fresh parsley when they want to drop extra water weight before a big event. Parsley has high levels of vitamin C and we know what that can do for our skin.

6. Coconut Water – This liquid hydrates the skin, helping to make it look more supple and youthful. Some studies have suggested that the antioxidants and cytokinins present in coconut water have an age defying effect on the skin. It also has significant anti-carcinogenic and anti-thrombotic properties, which help to slow the skin’s natural aging process.
