Chloe Grace Moretz, ex-girlfriend of Brooklyn Beckham, admitted to struggling with acne and has revealed her skin care routine.  Growing up, the young star struggled with cystic acne, which she tried to combat with diet changes and beauty products; she ultimately ended up having to go on Accutane. She admitted that living with acne was an emotionally taxing thing to deal with.

Moretz secret to keeping her skin looking its best is that she washes her face with olive oil. She says that since she’s started this routine, her skin has been so much clearer as a result. You may think that combating oil with more oil wouldn’t result in clearer skin, but olive oil is rich in antioxidants and doesn’t clog your pores. There are actually many cleansers on the market that utilize the power of olive oil in their formula.

Olive oil is also great to incorporate into one’s makeup routine—it’s great at taking off waterproof makeup. It doesn’t stand a chance against olive oil, which is generally safe to use on all skin types. The best part of using olive oil for brighter skin? It’s cost effective and you don’t need to use that much of it.

Moretz isn’t immune to pimples now that she’s a bit older. She has said that some days she will wake up with a fresh zit if she ate pizza the night before. This is why Moretz believes in healthy eating, not only for nourishing the body, but for maintaining healthy skin as well.

Like any new skin care product, be sure to test it on your skin before diving in to ensure that you don’t have a bad reaction to it.

Moretz Other Beauty Secrets

Moretz also admitted that she refuses to let makeup artists touch her eyebrows. She says that she’s learned from others mistakes, so it’s hands-off when it comes to the brows.

As for her infamous beachy-waves hairstyle, Moretz says she curls her hair and then sleeps on it. She doesn’t wash it very often and lets natural oils come through.

She gets her body-positive attitude from her mother. Growing up in the spotlight, Moretz has been picked apart when it comes to her body. Producers have commented on how she looks and suggested she change certain things about herself. Hearing such negativity as a child can really take a toll on someone’s body confidence. When her mother told her to forget what others say, she began loving herself more.

Chloe Grace Moretz may have an unconventional way of achieving her clear skin, but if it works, why stop? Will you be trying olive oil as a facial cleanser?
