Monday, November 7th marked the 13th annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, and it was a truly magical night as many top stars came out to play. Olivia Munn, Solange Knowles, Zendaya, and even Karlie Kloss all made spectacular appearances on the gray carpet.
What Is the Vogue Fashion Fund Awards?
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards 2016 is the equivalent of the Oscars in the fashion and design industry. All of the year’s biggest players are recognized and awarded for their achievements in helping to progress and cultivate the fashion industry in the United States. The award show features the best of the best in hair, makeup, and clothing design, leaving nothing to the imagination when it comes to high fashion.
Solange Knowles rocked a stunning metallic grey Virgil Abloh pant suit like no one else can (the brand has also been worn by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian) and matched it with a slicked back up-do hairstyle with giant hair clips framing her face. Her lightly shaded smoky eye makeup look worked well with her natural palette. She complemented the glamorous yet edgy outfit with white manicured nails and silver drop-down ball-shaped earrings.
Olivia Munn wore a gorgeous, fun, and flirty navy blue and floral Tanya Taylor dress. Her hair was loosely pulled back in a flowy and wavy ‘ponybraid’ as she referred to it on Instagram. But, perhaps the most interesting thing about Munn’s new look had nothing to do with her clothes, hair, or makeup. The biggest improvement in her appearance (not that there was any need for improvement to begin with) is her glowing skin.
She was kind enough to share her four top secrets for her beautiful skin transformation on her Instagram account, and it only took one year! First, she stated that her exercise regime for the movie X-Men caused her to lose 12 pounds, which reshaped the look of her face, particularly her jaw line. Second, she reshaped her eyebrows as per the advice of her facialist, by letting them grow out to reach their natural arch and then she plucked them from the bottom only. Third, she started washing her face nightly with Proactiv to get rid of her the dark spots on her face. Finally, Munn claims that she eats Japanese potatoes because they contain copious amounts of hyaluronic acid, which is good for treating wrinkles. Clearly, everything she is doing is working well for her because she looked absolutely radiant at the 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards on Monday night!
Speaking of absolutely radiant young women, Zendaya also made a big splash at the awards in her gorgeous floor-length Michael Kor’s navy blue and white floral-patterned gown with cape-like sleeves draping over her shoulders and arms. While Zendaya is known for experimenting with outlandish hair makeovers at awards shows, this time she kept it simple with smooth, shiny straight hair. Even her makeup look was simple and clean with pretty smoky eyes.
All in all, it seems like it was a fun night out in New York City and a great opportunity for the stars to show off their trendiness and personal style.
