Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale recently posted a selfie on Instagram, showing off her fabulous, thick, and bushy to-die-for eyebrows. She credited celebrity stylist Kelly Baker for her awesome, envy-worthy look, but she has also mentioned in previous interviews that she has been plucking and styling her own eyebrows since she was a little girl.
This is not surprising since she captioned the picture, “Anyone who knows me knows I’m scared AF to have anyone touch my eyebrows.”
Who could blame her? After all, for some women, their eyebrows are like sacred ground. The right or wrong shape can change the whole appearance of a person’s face, and even though they do usually grow back, the time in between can be devastating. Even though it may seem superficial, the eyebrows can be a very sensitive subject for very personal reasons. On the same photo, one of Hale’s Instagram followers commented: “I was picked on cuz of my eyebrows a lot growing up (by my own teenage cousin) but now I love’em! :).”
It can be devastating to a young person’s self-esteem to be picked on because of their appearance. That is why, even though it may seem silly to be so concerned with having the perfect eyebrows, there is a little more to it than that. The fact that Hale is exuding so much confidence in this Instagram post is nothing short of inspirational to her many fans. It encourages them to take pride in their own appearances and, in a way, to conquer their own fears regarding their flaws.
Lucy Hale’s Eyebrow Secret
Lucy Hale’s secret to keeping your eyebrows perfectly groomed is simple: pluck and shape them according to your face. It is not about having the best eyebrows in general; it is about having the best eyebrows to match your facial structure. To do that, all you should do is stay within your natural brow line when plucking, waxing, or threading. Do not go too thin or else you will diminish the look of your naturally beautiful and thick eyebrows.
Plus, it will look like you don’t have any eyebrows at all, and then you will be forced to draw them in with an eyebrow pencil. Some of us are fortunate to have naturally thick and full eyebrows, and we should embrace that—full brows are the envy of women everywhere. If you have thinner, less defined eyebrows, fear not: there is a solution for that too!
All you have to do is find the perfect eyebrow pencil to match your natural brow color and skin tone, and you can easily fill them in. YouTube is full of channels that offer tutorials on how to do this, along with makeup gurus who can recommend high quality brands of eyebrow pencils for you to purchase. Or, you can even consult the eyebrow specialist at your local salon.
