Zara Larsson knows how to ring in the New Year in style! The singer and songwriter spent New Year’s Eve sailing away on a Caribbean cruise with her family. Zara Larsson ‘s Instagram shows the 19-year-old Swedish singer enjoying island life.
This is the perfect time for the rising star to take a break, as 2017 is shaping up to be a huge year with the release of her long-delayed international debut LP. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Larsson spoke about her new album, “I have been pushing it for literally a year. It was supposed to come out February 2016… it’s pop but there are some rhythmic songs, some dance songs, some ballads. I think that everyone will like at least one song.”
The busy singer took to Instagram to post pics of her travels around the Caribbean on the scheduled cruise stopovers. The Cavalli dress in the Beyoncé “Hold Up” video was the inspiration behind Larsson’s pic on Instagram, showing the singer posing in Jamaica. Another pic shows Larsson leaning on the bow of the ship with her hair tied up in a top bun, captioned, “A postcard with my best hairstyle” Zara Larsson in her bikini is radiant as she is captured in a photograph from Labadie. The Swedish native looks right at home in the sunshine on the various islands pictured on her Instagram.
The pop star sailed away on the Royal Caribbean Cruise just in time for the New Year’s celebrations, posting photos of her travels on her Instagram account. Fans of the singer took to her social media account to wish her well for 2017, but Zara Larsson had some reservations about celebrating New Year’s Eve. Her Instagram pic was captioned,
“Unpopular opinion: I f*#@ing hate celebrating things other than other people’s birthday’s. I can’t stand the big holidays and stuff. So deep down in this picture I’m in a lot of pain, but I look cute and that stupid hat thing goes pretty well with my dress. Goodnight 💤”
Inspired by ‘90’s Pop Divas
Growing up in Stockholm, Zara Larsson became interested in ‘90’s pop divas like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston, which she credits to her unique sound today. Coming from a family that is, “not musical at all,” her mother is currently acting as her manager.
She recently told Billboard, “If she didn’t take care of my money, I would be balling,” she said frankly. “And then I would be broke in a week.” At the age of 10, Larsson won Swedish talent competition Talang Sverige, which lead her to become a national sensation. Larsson took a slow route to the pop charts, staying in school even as her status turned from a 10-year-old reality TV star into an international success.
The new Zara Larsson LP set to be released in early 2017 is still in the works, with the track list yet to be announced. It is likely to include European mega-hit, Ain’t My Fault and I Would Like, which recently became her highest charting UK single when it peaked at #2.
